Barnes Montessori Nursery celebrated its 45th birthday with its annual Sports Day and many fun activities for all the children to enjoy. We welcomed parents, grandparents, siblings, friends and carers. There was a festive and happy atmosphere coupled with glorious weather.
The children started the Sports Day waving their ‘home made’ flags, whilst getting ready for the races with a “warm up” dance. All the children joined in various races and an obstacle course. Mothers and fathers showed their fitness and competitiveness. Well done to all!
Activities included a bouncy castle/obstacle course; bubble machine; face painting; lucky dip; piñatas; musical activities etc. Some of the local community had stalls. Some of the children had made signs and balloons and bunting adorned the veranda area.
Prior to the event all the children were involved in painting a large canvas, under the direction of a father who is an artist (Ron Diennet – www.rondiennet.com). This process is very akin to our Montessori approach as children have the freedom to express themselves through art and with no restrictions. This painting was auctioned and proceeds went towards renewing equipment and money was given to three local Charities – Shooting Star Chase; HomeLink; and Momentum.
The event was a great success and enjoyed by all. Children, parents and staff were all involved.
