50TH ANNIVERSARY

The Barnes Montessori Nursery celebrated 50 years with a Summer Fair on 4th July 2019. The occasion was enjoyed by many former, current and future pupils and their families. The brilliant sunshine brought added joy and happiness to the event where children enjoyed fun activities in the environment they so love, and where many hundreds of Barnes children have blossomed and thrived.

The school originally started at the former Shoreline Building at the end of White Hart Lane in the summer of 1969. It moved to the Barnes Sports Club in February 1986, where it continues to be, at the heart and centre of the Barnes Community. The Barnes Montessori Nursery, one of the most popular in the Borough, has a consistent record of ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted ratings and has been successfully Montessori accredited and re-accredited to maintain Maria Montessori’s real beliefs.

Anne-Marie True, owner and Principal for 32 years, said: “It is a pleasure, a privilege and a joy to celebrate half a century of commitment and success building this happy place, and to share the occasion with all of you who make it possible and worthwhile. We take immense pride in the children in our care, in seeing their early lives transformed by the Montessori ethos and we cherish our Community which we are blessed to serve”.

Anne-Marie True and her team are passionately committed to the genuine Montessori approach to learning and development. For decades Barnes Montessori Nursery has offered a happy, fun and nurturing environment where young children grow to be independent, respectful and creative and leave with solid foundations and love of learning. “Nursery education”, Anne-Marie says, “is not an industry but a vocation”.

Zac Goldsmith, our local MP, cut the birthday cake. He praised Anne-Marie as a pillar to the Barnes Community and congratulated her on her dedication and professionalism, which was recognised by a national award as ‘Montessorian of the Year’ in 2011. He also remarked on her commitment to nursery education and how powerfully she has always lobbied him in the interests of young children, a cause that Zac himself holds dear and will always carry to Ministers.

“The child brings us great hope, and a new vision” (Montessori)
